(In Search of Moebius – BBC 4 Documentary 2004)
I despise reboots of ideas, I like obscurity becuase it’s eternal. Tearing down a current reality and replacing it with another is essential for creative concepts. That doesn’t happen often because we’re on a re-loop of appeasing expectations. Most are quick fix fills that last no more than a few hours, then filed away. You can see this in the mainstream movie industry. There is a paycheck that’s attached to a forgotten legacy with all it’s bitterness. The artist Moebius, in my opinion, captured examination of possible futures and realities, drew them with precision, irony and cynicism. A beautiful combination.
