With most of the collections for this year’s New York Fashion week caught between indulgent adolescence, lack of ideas and totally confused concepts wrapped up in a sloppy overlay. So any designers representing functionality had to shine through. Rag & Bone hit it up with straight forward minimalist styles and a very slight avantgarde (the only anti-fashion aesthetic) appeal; clean and presentable with an expectational color pallet – which means they thought about the collection and how it would present against the darkened catwalk. Male/female clothing that represents fluidity, once again, it shows the skill of the designer to market a large collection of styles which are sellable. Yet, with a extensive spread like this for a collection, half the designs are hit or miss, high button collar shirts, with a slew of prints and dress styles that are uninspiring. Mass produced styling for department store markets.
