Pop culture metaphor/Mood-board

I like this clip from the 1998 movie:  Deep Impact, for these reasons:

  •  It reiterates that our true enemy is the construct of nature itself.  Despite it’s indifference against humanity.  We should see it as a war.  That must be won for the human race to survive.
  • The reconciling of families in the face of death.  In this case the father and daughter, estranged, due to a divorce as her father (played by Maximilian Schell) is now in a relationship with a younger woman – who he had possibly had an affair with.  Thus the fractured relationship he has with his daughter (Jenny Learner played by Elizabeth Téa Pantaleoni).
