Stephen Hawking’s warning: Don’t reply to an alien message.

The Fermi Paradox still reigns supreme, a simple observation by the late physicist Enrico Fermi, that given the infinite mass density and expansion of the Universe.  Where is all the alien life?  The Earth is a microdot within the backdrop of billions of planets and stars.  Our insignificance is mind blowing, a sobering reminder against  human arrogance that entails we are governed by a single deity or natural laws.  Essentially we are nothing.  At the same time we could be greater and more prolific in our understanding of our place, more importantly, survival in an uncaring, indifferent and brutal cosmos.  That is the philosophical bases of a human-centric power evolving to combat against natural systems.  Till then we are no more than ants intermixed with confusion.

Stephen Hawking in his latest  science (hard) fiction scenario.  Once again reiterates a case that the human race should remain silent against contacting more advanced alien life.

If life is rare in the cosmos and we are discovered, they, the aliens maybe not after our resources…

Allison Vilus manages and curates her own gallery: Vilus Gallery in New York City, one of the many commercial galleries that are situated in lower Manhattan.  The world in it’s tumultuous predicament shows no favors as America goes into an economic recession.  Sales are down, while the debt increases equate to the obvious in the boom and bust of capitalism. Satran Kaevon awakes in his apartment, not to sure if he is an artist yet he sees a framed image of his creation.  Which may hold the answers to the fragmented reality that we all endure.  His amnesia of prior events cloud the past, yet he knows there is an urgency in the now.  A proposition must be offered.  In the uncertainty of it’s principle Allison Vilus must make a choice.

New York Fashion week, Public School– Resort 2017

Once again Public School via the designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne school how it is done.  Know the color spectrum, understand how chromatic and achromatic colors work, this is noted with the perfection of yellow and black represented predominately with their Resort 2017 collection.  Black is not a color  as it does not reflect light, but it can be used as an excellent base to create dramatic contrasts.   Skilled fashion designers can achieve a pronounced impact from not only well cut clothes, but the use of details in color representation  – Public Shool execute this with finesse.  Street wear does not have to be immature, it can be tough, mature and resilient.  Attire suited for combat against the pressures of life.  Facing the world, not afraid of it, challenging oneself and pushing forward.  Grays and browns, subtle insignia and smart use of pattern work.  Sex appeal, with a slight social commentary (veiled female and male models) that could be seen as an implied statement.  It is about rebellion.

Marcelo Burlon County of Milan (RTW) Milan Fashion week – Spring 2017

This is a perfect example of breaking a creative foundation after setting a bench mark over the years with it’s branding.  Marcelo Burlon has shifted gear, reversed and gone backwards into a very odd and immature style that just looks so cheap and nasty, it’s almost mind boggling – yet the label is exclusive.  A sloppy through back to a 90s look that should, and in most cases will never  be revived, that being the grudge, threadbare, pile of rubbish styling.

Nuclear War

In light of the polarization of both the left and right jostling within the realms of distraction politics.  Mixed with the West’s failed, but yet to acknowledge, socialist utopian and crony capitalist debacle.  The greater threats facing humanity are two, the natural system destroying us, either through any number of cataclysmic events from cosmological to climate change or pandemic virus.  The other is nuclear war.

Close to a flawless collection, which is what you would expect from Donatella Versace.  Perfect color perspectives styled into a sporty,  but yet dark and futurist conquest.  Power, sex and confidence.  To be fearless.  You only live once.  I love it.

Damir Doma (RTW) London Fashion week – Spring 2017

Damir Doma is such a consistent designer with a prolific standard emerging, from the exceptional Autumn/Winter 2017 show his stalwart style has now transpired into this Spring 2017 collection.  This is where, in my opinion, a creative person begins to excel.  Not breaking the continuity and restarting a core theme, but rather, re-working concepts and refining those visualizations.  The unthreading of fabrics suggests a post-dystopian style, infused with a draped avant-garde look, but at the same time very distinct to Doma’s artistic visions.  As an artist who is aware of the importance of colors within the spectrum, you would know very well that chromatically neutral colors against black and white, can enhance darkened styles.   His use of a dulled yellow with this collection, is one of the most important colors that that can be matched against black and as mentioned other obscured shades.  Once again, Doma shows an artistic instinct to mix the palette of dark and light within his Spring collection – note the contrasts of all white styles, brown/dark blues and black ranges.    It is a sombre affair for Spring, but then again, these are avant-garde clothes.  More so, in my opinion, it  represents a Dystopian ensemble, clashing against modernist utopian ideals.  Which would be correct, a representation of current events and tensions throughout the world.  The dramatic ending being the black styles, sporadically mixed with red, blood colored specked smocks and t-shirts.
